Lantern House is solar powered- facility runs entirely off grid - 11 PV panels stored in batteries provide power to the facility 24hrs a day. It is currently the only off grid building in Eldorado Park, providing a learn/workspace for residents during loadshedding.
The Solar Precinct Lighting – has been designed to provide lighting to the exterior of the building and gardens as well as adjacent blocks.

Lantern House has a rainwater harvesting system, rain water is collected from roof into water tank which is then used to water the gardens.

Majority of the building’s exterior finishes as well as the floors within the facility are made from the timber of invasive species trees that are harmful to our country’s water table and indigenous vegetation.
